He is not neutered yet so I am wondering if that has any effect on the training. Also he pees everywhere in the house just not all the time. He's really bad on marking when we take him other places. When he pees in the house I wouldn't really consider it marking. I am thinking that the belly band might really be the next option. Question though, do I have him wear them all the time and when I take him out just take it off? Because like I said he doesn't pee when he's in his crate at night or in the playpen during the day. Its just on the weekends and at night when he sneaks away to pee. So should I just keep them on him anytime when he's not in the crate and playpen? Also do they ever try to mark and go with the belly band on? Also do you know who makes good belly bands for boys? |
We're weaning off the belly bands. They're NOT a replacement for watching them. BUT, at certain times, they have helped my sanity level through potty training. For example, if want to give him some time in the bed with you before going in his crate, it will 1) hopefully reduce his urge to go, or 2) if he does have an accident, you won't have to change the bedding at 11pm. Coby did have a couple of accidents in his, but I just had to watch him closer. When you want him to go out or to his pad or think he needs to go, you just remove it (the velcro scared the crap out of Coby, so he didn't like them much). For you, if it does deter his urge to go, you could use them periodically throughout the day or find the strategy that works best for you. That in conjuction with zoeybear's advice of sort of starting over might help. But if nothing else, it at least saves the carpeting, the furniture, the stress level, the marriage...........
Someone else here on YT had a good suggestion of setting a timer for every 30-40 minutes during pottytraining. That way
WE are better trained at training them. There are several belly band makers right here on YT - just look in the Products Forum!!
