The amount of hair you take up for a topknot is very dependent on the shape, size of the dog's head and well as the ear set and size of the dogs ears......Bow size is dependent on that too.
Go onto Sweetyblue.com and order yourself their 2 tapes. one for grooming the show coat and the other on topknots.

Topknots is something that must be learned with someone showing you in person. The first lesson is to get get your pup to lay still on one of those neck pillows

The fuzz ball coat can be calmed down by ironing her coat.
