We were taking care of Hubbys mom, in Calif. and at that time I had two rescues (Maltese mix and a Yorkie) and being they didnt know the house and they were a little scared we crated them at night. They were near our bed. This house was old and if a fire started it would have caused terrible damage. We had fire exits and hubby said fire starts just leave and leave everything behind. Well, in my mind my babies would be with me no matter what. Knowing animals panic in these situations is another reason that I crated them. One night it did happen the fire alarms went off and everyone scambled to leave the house. I jumped up grabbed the crate and out we went. The damage was not bad but it could have been, but standing watching the fire rescue put out the fire, I looked down and I did have my babies, so I always crate my Max at night because he will come with me no matter what.
The crate is handy to grab without having to look for a scared baby and they are safe with me. Just a thought when deciding to crate or not. |
Wow, I am sorry to hear about that. But that was smart thinking on your part. Im glad everything turned out okay!
