We just recently had this discussion on a beautyboard I belong to. We were talking about moms in their 40's trying to get pregnant. Why invitro clinics have age limits, etc. It's just my personal opinion but unless it's an accident, if you're over 40 you shouldn't be thinking about having a baby. That would make you 50 with a 10 year old, it's just not right. I don't care how "young" you feel.

I can tell you from people I know who have older parents that it's embarassing to have a mom or dad who people will think is your grandparent. It's also hard to have an older mom or dad who doesn't have the energy to play with you or relate to what's happening in this day and age.

I also believe it's just plain cruel to have a baby if you're going to be close to 70's or later when he/she is in college. Heck, you'll be lucky to be alive when they finish high school if you have any kind of health problems in your family. It's extremely selfish to wait till later in life to have your kids. My children(12 and 10) worry about me dying and I'm in my 30's...could you imagine how they'd feel if I was closer to 60???

Ugh. This is a pet peeve of mine.
