I pluck the hair out of my two's ears with no problem. I haven't tried that ear powder, I just use a good pair of tweezers and pull out a few hairs at a time. My two are real babies so I know they would put up a fuss if it hurt but they sit still for me and after I'm done they shake their heads once or twice and that's it
