There are a couple typs of LP. On is where the ligament is a bit too loose to hold the knee cap in place, but the other is where the little "pocket" that the knee caps fits in is too shallow to hold the knee cap. The dog cannot be diagnosed over the phone. It needs to be seen by a licensed Vet. before treatment or surgery. Giving a dog any medication to shrink a ligament sounds odd to me since there are many ligaments in the body. Also the ligament needs to be over the knee cap before shrinking it. If it isn't over the knee cap, then it won't work. I would not take these chances with this condition. Go to a regular Vet.
