Judy, I know it's late where you are Hon,(and you're hopefully sleeping), but I am just so upset for you about Gracie Leigh. I did a little research, and the encouraging news is that once diagnosed, Giardia is very treatable with most dogs having an excellent prognosis. My Spanky had it about 5 years ago; it took two rounds of medications, but she recovered just fine. I do remember though that the Vet had her on a special diet, that is easily digested by the poor affected little tummy.
Here are some links with info:

http://www.flatcoat.com/giardia.htm

Here is a quote from the first site on prognosis:
"Giardia is a very treatable condition. Most dogs recover quickly and do not have additional problems. However, if proper preventive steps are not taken, it is common for dogs with a previous history of Giardia to become re-infected."

Have you spoken to your Vet about steps to take once Gracie is pronounced healthy, to prevent reinfestation? Spanky's did return, albeit in a milder form, about 6 weeks later. After that, we never saw a reccurence.

If there is absolutely anything I can do please let me know.
I will check in with you in the morning,
Lauren
