The mommy definitly is the best way to ween. She will let you know by her actions. I had to hand raise my last litter there were four of them. When they were 4 weeks we started to introduce puppy food. I would presoak it in their formula, goat milk works. I would fed each of them 6-8 kernels, then let them have just milk. They always got their fill. I had to be more precise on what and how much I fed them because I needed to make sure all had the same amount and that none of the little ones were being pushed aside by the bigger ones. By the time my were 7 weeks they were weened off the bottle and drinking water. I still would presoak their food but they were up to 10 kernels. It doesn't look like a lot dry but when it is presoaked it is bigger and looks like a lot. Of course they digest it quicker than dry so I fed them every 3-4 hrs. Once their teeth cut in more I switched them to hard some of the time. I always left water down for them, usually they played in it though. Good luck and welcome to YT
