Siu Pao is like that too. He will get overtly anxious in the car, move here and there, to the right, to the left, to the front and to the back until he throws up. I have started travelling with him in the car as soon as we got him and its already been over a year now and we travel with him almost weekly in the car but its still the same thing. It helps to wak him before the trip but doesn't really calm him down 100%. I have tried giving him Gravol (ask your vet how much to give) and Travel Calmer pills for dogs but it only makes him drowsy..doesn't really help. Maybe you can give it a try.

Edited to add: ginger snaps will do too.
