The nipping is just a puppy thing, he doesn't know how far he's allowed to go with it. If it gets to the point where it hurts, yell "ouch" really loud and he'll quickly learn the boundries. Eventually he will mature from the mouthy puppy stage. As for potty training, a lot of people are using the bell method. You hang a round bell on a ribbon from the door handle and ring it everytime you take him out to potty. Encourage him to ring it with his nose and praise him when he does. Immediately go outside when he rings the bell, and he'll learn that when he needs to potty he only needs to ring the bell and he'll be let out. This is really convenient for everyone since it doesn't require your eyes on him looking for body language and stuff. Hope this helps!
