Hi Everyone,
I know a lot of people on here know Babybear's story about him breaking his neck last year do to Atlantoaxial Instability (AAI for short) this is a defect with the cervical vertabrae in the neck not firmly attached. And many know that I have done many things to get Babybear to walk again. He was given a cart(wheelchair) last November to learn to walk in and he hated it and it really didn't work right for him. Well, over the last year I have given him physical therapy, Water therapy and massage therapy daily, and weekly. He has also been going for acupuncture since the beginning of March. He can stand on his own but can not walk alone. I usually hold him under his belly and walk him and he does great but does need that help. His front legs do not move right they cross over with every step. Some people did give me suggestions on how to try and stop this but nothing has worked. His front right leg also buckles over and I am constantly telling him to fix his leg. He can do this and make it lay the right way.
The good news now is. I found a pup while doing a search on front wheeled cart, that is in a front wheeled cart and he goes like the wind. I wrote to the company that makes these front wheeled carts I sent them many pictures of Babybear and video. Well, next Monday Babybear goes to get measured for a new set of wheels. I am hoping this helps him walk again. He is very strong in the back end all but the LP he has in both legs. I am hoping this will also help the LPs. His doctor says he has LP because he is not using those legs like he should. With this new cart he will use them. I am hoping. I will take many pictures of him in his new cart and I will make sure that I post them.
