One of my Shelties, Dempsey, was hobbling around and just not himself moping and whining. He's really athletic, so I was sure that he had twisted or broken something in his little leg.
Needless to say, off to the vets we go - after hours, so it was top dollar! They took all kinds of xrays and did tests only to send me home with a $500+ bill telling me all the tests were fine, and that it was probably just arthritis. "Just give him a half of a buffered asprin 2 times a day."
By the next afternoon he was fine! Now when he starts to limp or gets a little mopey, we break out the Bufferin! It sure was an expensive lesson for us! (Did I mention that it is about $3 for a full YEAR's supply of Bufferin!)
Bottom line, if he's running around and playing - he's probably OK. Sometimes they are just going for the drama/sympathy!!
Keep us posted, though!
