Could it be a mineral deficiency? We just moved to Phoenix from Puerto Rico! So there has been a big change in weather condition from humid heat to dry heat. Now that the high heat is over it will be his first "cool" experience. Also the water is very different.
I remember when he was a puppy, at one time he would go and lick the walls. The vet told me it was some mineral deficiency. Could this be related?
I would check about the salt mentioned. Would ask the vet.
