Make sure is not Collapsing Trachea I just found out 6 months ago that Kalahad had a collapsing trachea (lots of info in the internet) It is common in small breads. They make a snort sound, cough or honk specially when excited. Mine does it also sometimes when he barks but others apparently without any reason in the middle of the night. Heat and humidity also triggers it.
The most common clinical sign is a chronic cough. It is often described as dry and harsh and can become quite pronounced. The term "goose honk" is often used to describe it. Coughing is often worse in the daytime and much less at night. The cough may also begin due to excitement, pressure on the trachea (from a leash), or from drinking water or eating.
I would recommend that you do a little research about this and if you suspect it, tell your vet and make some tests.
Never use a collar with a Yorkie, must use a harness, no matter if they have CT or not. Trachea is a very sensible are on small breads. |
