Welcome to YT!

I do not know what food are you feeding him, Be sure is a good quality one, not those found in Vets or regular grocery stores. I would probably not rush into change it but after a while when he is really comfortable to his new home. I use Canidae
One thing I can not stress enough to new Yorkie owners is "Do not ever use a collar" Their neck is a very fragile area for them and can develop a Collapsing Trachea, which can not be reversed, and will cause difficulty in breathing and eventually death. The smaller the dog the more chances there is to develop it and it happens at any age. So being a little bigger than usual could be a good thing! just be sure that his weight is always in proportion with his size.
They sure are dogs with an attitude!!! they will guard you as if they were a Doberman!!! It seems that they have not idea how small they are!

Usually your Vet will tell you if the ears need to be taped. Mine didn't I just kept the tip of the ear (1/3) trimmed.

After 9 years i still have lots of questions.. never feel ashamed to ask, everybody has had different experiences and you are always learning new things. This forum is a great experience!
