As far as being sick, what food is he eating , what treats ? Keep in mind, everything is new to little guy if you only had him a couple of days, and got a clean bill of health from Vet. As far as his ears, just shave his little ears , invest in a little trimmer, like the Wahls Penut, a little spendy if its not on sale, he might be teething !
