PANAMA69, I'm so sorry you are going through this.....to find you have been taken advantage of and not being able to resolve this has to be incredibly frustrating and upsetting for you...
I have a feeling that the police are not going to much for you at this point their probably going to tell you it's a civil matter and you have to take her to court....when I had to take some one to court I had to file it in the state where the incident occurred, not where I lived, which would probably be where she lives...if your in two different states this is going to be difficult for you, you also have to find her to serve her with the court papers, then she has to show up, after you have numerous postponements, if she doesn't show you win...but that's a whole other story...winning a case is only part of the process.... collecting is a whole other matter....
I hope you get some satisfaction from this soon and it doesn't have to come to going to court....Good luck....
