My first suggestion would be to borrow books from the library. I get the newest hottest titles by actually putting the book on reserve. You can reserve a title from up to a month before it's released. I usually do this and get the book very close after it's released. I am an avid reader and read probably 5 books a week (hardcover) so after adding what I was spending and then donating it to the library I was shocked at my spending. So now I borrow and I try to donate a little something to the library at the end of the year for helping me with my reading obsession.
