OH how sad! Im so sorry you lost your max. I usually say that everything happens for a reason, but honestly I can never find a reason why bad things happen to little defenseless animals!
Just know that whoever took him was because they wanted him and loved him and gave him a good life and still is giving him a good life. I think that mika would totally understand your love for max and your sadness at his loss.
She would still love you unconditionally! I think we all have our 'soul mate' pet! Max was yours! It does not lessen your love for Mika or any future fur-babies you have.
