My dex had a reaction to the rabies vac about 20 mins after I got him home from the vet. His eyes swelled shut and he broke out in hives all over his little body. He was rubbing all over the carpet to scratch himself ... poor little guy! I gave him 2mls of childrens benedryl and didnt sleep all night but after about 3 hours he was fine. Make sure you tell your vet that this happened, they will put it in his record and next time he needs shots they will give him a shot of benedryl orally before they do the shot so this won't happen again. The yelping just tells you hes sore, my dex is the same way, he wants to be held and coddled after his shots but he yelps like a maniac when I touch him. He is just sore.... My vet gives him a pain meds orally when he gives him his shots so it won't be so sore for him.
