My vet sold me a bottle of oxytocin to give after they give birth to help expel any remaining placentas. Even after the shot they sometimes retain them. My last litter, I took her in because she retained 2. She never got an infection and did just fine, but I was glad that I took her in. If you palpate her stomach, you might be able to feel them. I originally thought I was feeling another puppy and it was the placentas.
Also, if you take her to the vet, take the puppies too. Don't separate them.
