Did I mention in my first thread that I have never changed a diaper in my whole life? Ive never fed a baby or anything, yikes!!!!! I think Ive only held a baby like twice and thats becasue my friend made me. I have so much to learn and prepare for!!! |
Honey, it's perfectly NORMAL to feel this way. You're going through huge changes physically & emotionally and your life is getting ready to go through a major change, but it's all SO worth it. I don't think I know anyone who has kids who didn't worry at some point that they were not going to be prepared or that they were going to do something wrong. It's in our nature and I think it just shows that you want to be the best mommy possible. Also, your practicing "worrying" about the baby...you'll be doing a lot of that for the rest of your life! lol There's always something to worry about when you're a Mom but it's only because you love them so much. I agree w/ the others, register for the necessities for your showers, lots of diapers, onsies, pjs, wipes, diaper bag, car seat, stroller, etc. Even if you think it's too expensive, put it on the list. At my showers I ended up getting gifts from people who pooled their money to be able to get a larger gift than they could afford individually. After your showers take stock and see what still need. You're right though, you can't put it all off until the last second because sometimes those little cuties like to make an early appearance. You don't need a ton of "fancy" clothes for the first few months because they do a lot of poopin' & pukin' on their clothes. Keep her in comfy clothes at home & spend your money on other things...like diapers! lol I'm sure you'll get cute clothes at your showers & after the baby is born. Also, I did a lot of bargain shopping. I would shop the clearance racks at the end of the season and just calculate out how old the girls would be when they would need those clothes the next year (sometimes I had clothes for 2 or 3 years put away because I got them so cheap). It seems confusing at first but it's really pretty easy to figure out what size they should be in next year. Also, garage sales are a great way to find baby things. I just sold all of my baby things last summer... crib, car seats, stroller, sheets, pjs, clothes...everything I'd saved for 4 years just in case I was going to have another baby...and I sold it all dirt cheap because I knew I didn't need it and I remember how expensive everything is when you're trying to buy everything for a new baby. If you know anyone w/ a young child ask them if they have anything you could borrow or buy from them. Good luck, try to get plenty of rest, relax, and PM me if you need to talk or have any q's. Mom's are a great resource & most love to share their advice. Then you just have to sort through all of the advice you get and figure out what will work for you & your baby.
