Male Maltese sell for about half as much as the females, believe it or not. You can get a male Maltese from a small show breeder for about $1000, less if he is a little older and they are anxious to get rid of him before he matures. You have to really hunt to find a female Maltese from a reputable breeder for under $2500. There are a few out there for about $2000, but they are hard to find and go quickly. Everybody wants the girls so they can dress them up. I happen to think they have darling clothes for the boys, too.
