Each of our girls were spayed at about 5 1/2 months. Our vet insists on having them brought in first thing in the morning, does the surgery early in the day, and keeps them overnight before releasing them the next morning. I visited each of them a couple of hours after the surgery, and they were just fine. By the time I picked them up the next morning, the biggest problem was keeping them from doing too much jumping and playing for a few days. Must not have been a traumatic experience, because they love the vet.
My fears were overcome by the statistics - chances of adult health problems are reduced about 80% by having the little girls spayed before they come into heat the first time. |
