Personally I think he would be happier in his crate or cage in your room instead of in the kitchen away from you. If he is used to sleeping in there I would let it go. He's happy and it helps him to see you as the top dog which keeps you boss. Once you start letting them sleep with you they start losing sight of just who is boss. (which is his den to him and feels secure)
