Everyone has a different tolerance to pain - so maybe hers is very low. I believe it also depends on whether or not it was an emergency. With emergency C-sections, the internal cut is usually vertical.
With my C-section 24 years ago, I was up and out of bed within 12 hours. I was not bed ridden at all and although there were some movements that were not pleasant for a while (bending over), it wasn't bad.
