I think when I got Sahara she came with Kennel Cough or picked it up at the Vet on that first visit, anyway my Vet diagnosed it as an upper Respiratory Infection, that at one point did go into pneumonia which required hospitalization for a day. I also asked how she could have come down with this and was told that it was “airborne”. This is one thing that you have to keep a close eye on. They put her on antibiotics though they did not put Dennis on even though I kept questioning why as he was exhibiting the same symptoms. At any rate, from August 15 to January, both of mine were coughing and wheezing and had me quite petrified that neither were getting better. Though looking back, they both got better after about 8 to 12 weeks when they were both treated with the antibiotics.

It cost me $2000.00 dollars because of the incompetence of my Vet and I am still a little steamed to say the least! Dennis got so very sick that he was hospitalized for 3 days, and because of the trauma and I think all the x-rays and various testing that was done caused him to loose his hair for 3 months afterwards. It has started to grow back, though I don’t think it well ever be what it was. I believe they both simply had Kennel Cough and if they both had just been treated at the first onset of a cough they would have been well in 8 weeks. In fact I did consult with another Vet whom agreed with my findings.

So at any rate be very careful that it does not go into pneumonia.

Good luck
