Well, the first bed Meka had... she did the same thing. I would often find her laying on the floor next to the bed, rather than in it... Until one day we figured that the bed made her hot and she was laying on the floor to be cool. The bed had large sides on it and a very thick material. She now has "small pillow-like bed w/ lighter material" and she loves it - never had that problem again....
