Does the little one bark or do anything to cause this? I have four female Yorkies and for awhile the 4.2 LB 4 year old(Mandy) would attack the 12 LB 2 year old (Krissy). Krissy would roll on her back and Mandy would go away. Then the two year old finally fought back and that wasn't good for Mandy and she had a gash above her eye. I did not separate them at all. I actually put just the two of them together all day for over two weeks ( where I was close by). That meant keeping my other dogs in a different area. I noticed as long as they were calm it was OK but any type of excitement would trigger a fight. At one point I thru my full glass of water at them. BOY were they shocked!
After many squirts with water and a loud NO they now do not attack each other if the phone rings, door bell rings, I say 'lets go' etc....
I though I would have to get rid of one but the water bottle sits on the floor in what ever room we are in as a reminder that fighting is not acceptable. I do not leave them alone together if I'm going out though. Hopefully the water bottle can go soon too.
Have your friend try the water bottle and see if it helps.
