I groom my Poodles and Yorkies myself. I taught myself. I started with the little stuff, cutting toe nails, minor trims, etc until I built up the confidence to do the rest. I bought good clippers and blades-that definitely makes a big difference. Also, I bought the book "Poodle Clipping and Grooming" by Shirlee Kalstone. I have read that book from cover to back several times. It explains not only the poodle cuts but also detailed explanations of the different clipper blades, how to hold the shears (scissors), different techniques, etc... that can be applied to grooming any breed. If you need any specific info, let me know and I will try to scan the pages you need and send them to you!

My best advice would be to have fun with it, and if you make a mistake, remember it will grow back!

Hope this helps!
