That is really stupid of them if they don't have it clearly indicated what you are signing and giving them permission. They can prob get sued for that too. That is no excuse for their ignorance, lack of concern and negligence.
To the lawyer and the court. I would pay for the baby to be released just to get her out of there if need be and call the lawyer to let him know that they also withheld the dog for payment of the bill. It will all come out in the settlement if she has a case (I am not an attorney so I don't want to give the impression that I am)...but I would in NO WAY let this go.
