If you have never done this, which is what I gather from your first post I would suggest getting a job at an existing one to get your "feet wet". Try to work in every aspect of the business, from the office side to the actual dog interactions. Being on your own there is more reward and also more headache because everything comes back to you, a franchise on the other hand basically has a manual that you follow but cuts in on your personal profit.
