Okay, I have previously mentioned at work about wanting to someday breed yorkies, but how Cozy, (+10 lbs.), is way overstandard so I could never in good conscious breed her. Well, tonight someone at work has told me that their neighbor (a yorkie breeder) is trying to find a good home for female yorkies and they don't think they would charge me anything because I could provide a good home. The reason they are rehoming her is that they are looking to downsize to a more manageable number because her husband died recently and she doesnot feel she can give them all the love and attention they deserve. My coworker said that the some of the females maybe pregnant already. My coworker said that she has been helping this woman out with the doggy care. This is not how I was looking to getting in to breeding/puppy raising. I won't be able to met this neighbor until next week but my coworker told me that she will let them know that I am very interested.
My main question is how will I know if the female is pregnant or not? Also should I feed the new addition puppy food to be on the safe side just in case she is pregnant? I don't know much about breeding/raising puppies and was plan on researching the topic throughly and completely before I went into it.I maybe putting the cart before the horse though and may not want any of the dogs she is trying to rehome.
