I always planned on getting a Yorkie when I became an empty nester, but my little Maltese Lady came into my life as a rescue which is why I ended up with a Maltese.
I'm not sure about Yorkie prices, but Maltese prices have gone through the roof in the past few years. The starting price for a female Maltese from a reputable breeder is $2,000, males are about half that.
The biggest difference between the two breeds is in personality. Yorkies are terriers and are high energy, lively little dogs. Maltese are spaniels and much more mellow and laid back. Which personality would fit your lifestyle best?
