A bile acid test is usually a blood test. I think it can be done with urine but that is very questionable right now. You just fast your dog for 12 hours (overnight) and take them to the vet for a blood draw. They feed a high protein meal and draw again 2 hours later. The normal results are premeal: less than 10 and postmeal: less than 15 or 20. Ellie's postmeal is 47.
