I didn't know where to post this but being that GiGi has had a reoccurance of UTI just a month since her last bout of it I had to ask this question. Can a dog get UTI from having their annal glands expressed

GiGi is 5 1/2 years old and has never had UTI or any other internal infection. In May I took to her old vet for her annual check up (we had vets switched for a couple of years). For the first time at any vet visit the vet raised the question of whether she need to be expressed I said I didn't know but that I don't see any prob with her pooping. So he checked it out and said she needed it. After it was done I still didn't see the
NEED to have it done. Since then she has gotten UTI 2x's.
I am not to vet crazy lately and am pretty ticked off now as I am beginning to think the some of these vet are more pranksters than healers.
