We do an xray just to see how large the puppies are at that time and at the earliest at day 56. If one is too large at that time then we know we need to schedule a csection. You never know 100% though as things can still go wrong and a csestion will still be needed. I for one will for SURE do xrays - always. My vet said that an xray will not harm the puppies once the bones become calcified.
We also did an ultrasound, but those are only done to verify pregnancy. A count is very hard. We looked like Halle is going to have three though! We did count three heartbeats.
