Does anyone have a dog who is allergic to latex? If so how do you know they are allergic, what are the symptoms? My little Xena has this cough right now and we are trying to figure out what is causing it. We took her to the vet and they took x-rays to make sure she wasn't having trachea problems and since she didn't cough there they couldn't tell what it was. Her temperature is normal and everything came back fine so they put her on a cough medication. She is also being a little more picky with her food which we told the vet. She normally scarfs it down and now it sits there for most of the day and sometimes she doesn't finish all 3 meals.
We're trying to figure out what changes we have made that could have caused this. We put her on a harness and not a leash anymore and have removed everything but her usual food (chicken soup for the puppy lovers soul - Wet & Dry), little bits of cheese, cheerios, and chicken bits (organic - just chicken preserved in vitamin e). So far nothing, even the pills are not working. She coughs all night and it is dry and at the end it sounds like she is hacking up a hairball.
We did bring in a couple latex toys around the time she got the cough so I wonder if that has anything to do with it. She has a little orange porcupine and and an orange dumbbell looking one. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
