I just had my little girl spayed in july, we had kind of a rough time as well, and like you I was worried that she wouldn't be the same silly hyper little thing.
Well she was roaring around again a week or so after, I know its hard but you just have to be patient. And if you are uncertian about anything call your vet. I know I sure did, in fact I should send them a gift basket at Christmas for all the times I have called with silly questions! If nothing else your vet will put your mind at ease. Just take it easy and for sure get some pain medication, it is not costly and will work wonders.
