I have a human friend who has this. It is very similar to Multiple Sclerosis in that there are good days where you wouldn't know anything is wrong and then flare ups where she is bed ridden. It causes progressive, degenerative muscular weakness until the body doesn't work any longer. It usually begins with extremeties and then turns to the internal muscles (heart, lungs, esophogus, etc.).

From my friend, I understand there really is no treatment other than watching your diet, eliminating stress levels and taking good care of yourself. She knows that eventually this disease will take her life, but she has been dealing with it for 6 years now. Hope this helps.
