I have been told to give preemies about 1 cc every hour to every 2 hours depending on how full their tummy feels and whether or not mom is providing some milk or not. He may get some milk from mom which is good and then you will only need to suppliment. You are right about tube feeding not being necessary if you are getting milk in him.
