My Biewer has a heart murmur but had an ultrasound before being spayed. She weighed 2.4 lbs. at the time which was 8 months old. They did take extra precautions but knew what they were dealing with because of the heart ultrasound. She was fine and stayed overnight. They must disclose all possibilities to cover their hide. I would still go the specialist route if you can in Max's case.
I will keep both of you in my thoughts and prayers. I know how stressed you must be.
