The first time we used a stud to breed to our female, we paid a stud fee. She did not get pregnant and after showing proof from the vet, we got 1/2 of the fee back. Which at the time I thought was fair. But then we took her to a more experienced breeder the next time and she wanted pick of the litter. What made me feel that the 1/2 fee return was NOT fair was when the 2cnd breeder told me that she did not get pregnant the first time because her hymen was still intact. So really we paid the fee the first time for nothing.. live and learn

PS I have a question though.... Can the stud owner specify that the bitch owner MUST sell the puppies on aspay or nueter contract?? The reason we went to a experienced show breeder was because we wanted quality puppies.. of which we hoped would add a show quality male to our yorkies.... but then I wouldn't be able to show it.. doesn't make sense to me.. Also if she took pick of the litter, could I also enforce that SHE must get the puppy spayed or nuetered?? |
