Put a leash on your dog, hold it in one hand and a box of treats (I use Cheerios) in the other. Slowly back away and call him to come, like Chloe, come and shake the box. When he does, say good boy to come and give a small treat. I also put up one finger until its time to come. Keep extending the leash longer and longer with the same command, slowly backing up each time. Keep extending the leash to 20 or 30 feet until he knows he doesn't come until you shake the box, put your finger down and say come. Now, on the rare occasion that Chloe gets outside and decides its more interesting to run, I shake the box, yell come and she stops in her tracks, races back for me to give her a treat. I keep a small box of Cheerios in the pocket practically all the time. I suggest if you decide to do this, keep her on leash until you have practised in a "safe environment", like a fenced yard.
