So much of how your dog acts hinges on what the personality/mood of the family is (that's MY theory anyway). Tatum is a very low-key, laid back dog. Yes, she barks when someone comes to the door and when she's playing chase with Stormie (our Aust. Shep) outside but other than that, she's not a "yappy" dog. People always used to tell me that's how poodles are but we had a poodle for 15 years that was just as laid back as Tatum. That's why it's my opinion that it has a lot to do with their surroundings. I've had two potentionally yappy dogs that turned out to not be that way.

Socialize your new pup well and I bet you'll have a better experience with him regarding this issue.
