That's what I did in my mom's house and it worked wonders.
Also, maybe whatever spirit is in your house is that of a child? That would explain the thing with the tv and cabinets.. a child would find that amusing. Also, with the heaviness, because if the child is alone, he must be sad?
*The spirit or whatever was in my mom's house felt at times like that of a child and that of a mean old lady. But seriously, I'd try the holy water. At this point, it can't hurt to try it.
