Puppies, Puppies, Puppies!!! Ok, here's where we stand today. Until next week.
Autumn & Nicky
girl 4oz
boy 3.8ozs
Lacijo & Big
boy 2.4oz
girl 1.6oz
girl died
girl 3.5oz.
Autumn did fine but Lacijo stopped having hers midway. We waited and waited and waited and then finally decided that even tho she looked good, it was time to take her in. It had been more than 2 hours since the last baby. We were hoping that we could stall until the vet opened but we were afraid to wait much longer.
The kids were up and getting ready for school so I stayed home while hubby took Laci to the er vet. They thot she was too tired to push but when they used the thermometer on her the next sac popped out. They waited for 15 minutes and nothing happened so they gave her the shot and nothing happened. Finally they decided the baby's head must be too big and tried to use forcepts on her. For some reason they couldn't get the baby and time was running short and they wanted to close. So hubby called our vet and started to his office to get a c-section. Laci had the baby in dad's lap. She didn't have a chance. Never took a breath. About 5 minutes after they walked in the door Laci delivered the last one.
The baby that died was smaller than the last one but I didn't weigh it so I can't be exact about it. I am going by looks and the 3rd baby was smaller than the 4th baby so the head was not too big. They don't know why the baby didn't come sooner and I couldn't guess why either.
All the the babies are very healty and strong. I just hope we can keep that little one alive. I haven't had one that small before. Sylvia |
