I think that's very honorable of you...=)
BUT do remember that the fate of your baby lies in your hands...so if she's getting mistreated then you have an obligation to do everything in your power to get her back, no matter what it takes! I'm sure you love her just as much as we all love our fur babies, and I think we can all agree that we would fight, and fight hard, if someone tried to take them away! I know this is a very difficult thing, relatives can be tricky! But you are totally 100% right in marching over there and taking her back, or even nicely asking first as many have suggested! So don't feel bad for a second!
