Also they are offering lots of pre surgery screening---blood screening (46.25 extra), EKG ($43.00) and an IV at an extra cost. Are these necessary?
My Chihuahua was nuetered 7 years ago with out any options like these by the same vet. I do trust this vet. He saved my chihuahuas life!
Hello,

I am new to this site. I have a 9mo Yorkie named Yoda. I just had him neutered today. I did not have the blood work done and I had him done by scalple. My vet wanted $93 for the lazer surgery. I felt that since dogs have had this procedure done in the past with a scalple that it wouldn't hurt him. As for the blood work I opted for none, my vet said this was just a screening for future problems and I felt that I could get it done later anyway. I did get the IV because he was cryptorchid and the vet said he would be under quite a bit longer than normal dogs so she felt he would need this just to be safe. He is at home tonight and resting quitely he doesn't seem to be in much pain just very sleepy. Probably due to the pain meds. Your decision should be based on your puppies needs and your preferences. Hope I helped a little. I look forward to chatting with everyone more often.
