I think maybe he just misses the satisfying feeling of his old food.... Or maybe hes just smart and knows that Mom's a good cook! Roast is better than Dog Food!
My baby eats half human food and half dog food. I put a little chicken or something on top of her dry food. She eats the human food right away and comes back for the dog food when she realizes she didnt get enough to eat.
